The upgraded network card does. I only posted the specs because the thread states - post your specs, and try the speed test.

Whatever the cheapest was with the package deal. Try doing it on the DC server though, Frederick only came out around 14K for me.

I just got a new cable modem and a 2 GHz splitter to replace some of the crappier stuff that I had. The cable modem is a Motorola Surfboard. Also, I am paying for 7 MB down and 1 MB up, so the test came out about right.

That sucks. Maybe I should ask for a better Router... They gave me some banged up NetGear unit.

I know I have a Netgear router through them as well, probably the same as yours. I'll try to get a pic of it over the weekend.

It could be your router, but it could also be the wiring in your neighborhood. At my old house I had the same service but was using the Motorola surfboard modem and a linksys router and got the numbers posted earlier in this thread (see quote below)

I think I am going to look into FIOS. Not so much for the internet but for the cable TV part because Comcast DVR sucks. I was looking around the other night and came across a article showing that Comcast looks better than they are on tests such as SpeedTest.net because of their SpeedBoost technology which speeds up your connection for the first 10 seconds or so then drops dramatically. Here is a link to the post:

Just got Comcast installed last week at my new place. Wasn't too fond of them being the only ISP for the area but I'm quite impressed at the speedtest.net results.

I have comcast myself but will probably be switching over to FIOS shortly. I read somewhere that the numbers you see from speedtest.net and similar sites for Comcast are not true numbers because they only test for like 30 seconds which is in the SPEEDBOOST portion of Comcast. Those numbers drop dramatically after the first thirty seconds or so.

Good download speed. That upload speed is lacking though for that package.

I wonder what xfinity will do for Comcast?

Eh, coming from dail-up to Hughesnet to Comcast Digital... I'm quite happy. I can be on Playstation Network or XBOX Live and have no connection issues at all, even when I'm downloading podcasts or music (or other things) on my PC at the same time.

Again, I'm happy with it.

Not quite as fast as FIOS but it'll do. Just being able to get online and not have to wait forever is nice.
