Talking 2010 Mitsuoama Md Bbq

Official 2010 Mitsuoama BBQ Thread

June 12th, 2010
11AM

This is the official thread for the 2010 Mitsuoama BBQ thread. This year it is going to be held at My (no1dan2001) house, located at the address below. The bbq will be held Saturday, June 12th, 2010. We will have the grill going as well as some volleyball, maybe some horseshoes and a football game. Kids are welcome as always, and we can come up with some good photo ops. I hope to have this the biggest turnout yet which is why I'm offering my house for long haulers to stay overnight. I've got more than enough room for anyone to stay (although you may have to bring your own mattress - I've got two fulls and a queen).

I'm buying all food and we'll all square up when we get here - I don't think it'll be more than $15 a car - I'm buying everything but alcohol.

Also, depding on who is interested and what the cost is, I may organize getting a bushel or two of crabs for the cookout. Also, for those who feel down I've got a great idea for afterparty at Gilligans in Newburg (15-20 min) or the tiki bar in solomans (30-35 min). We'll play it by ear when it happens.
The Location Address -

15211 Hughesville Manor DR
Hughesville, MD 20637

Definitely subscribe to this as it is going to be our best BBQ yet!

Attendees:

1) No1dan2001
2) CRPEARCE +1
3) Hijacker
4) CAR N VOR
5) CHAVELECLIPSE
6) misseclipse (maybe)

Sounds like a good idea, especially letting people that will travel quite a bit *Chris* crash there.

I am definitely interested in attending this, and I would probably be one of the people crashing for the night. Doing these long drives (i.e., 6-8 hours round trip) is difficult for me, so being able to chop the trip into two days would be great.

I am available most weekends, so once a date is decided upon, I will be sure to mark it off on my calendar.

This is just something for you to think about, so let me know.

Sounds like a plan to me. As another suggestion, you could work this date closer to an MIR event? Since you're just around the corner, you could almost plan for both. (Just a thought). Regardless of what is decided, I'll do my best to make it assuming I'm not traveling to somewhere for business.

I've got a 4 wheeler at my 'rents house. My next door neighbor says there are trails all the way down to aquasco raceway (about twelve miles). I dont know if this would be the best venue but once I bring it down and do some trail scoping yall would be welcome to come and ride. There's an ATV park close to MIR ive never been to as well. Take the ~30 miles fo trails by my parents' house and we could come up with a good day. I haven't been out in quite a while.

I appreciate it and I'll definitly take you up on it if this goes through.

hahaa dude this is So. MD. I live 10.1 miles from MIR (its a 15-20 minute drive). Nothing but farms and farms and amish and farms. My four neighbors all have four wheelers and neighbor across the street has a yz400, 2 kx80s and a 700FI raptor (his buddy up the road stores them). Riding is a way of life down here! I'm only on about three quarters of an acre (I've included another pic below) - If you want to tear up the back yard you're welcome but I'm yet to travel the trails and have some real fun.

Like I stated above I live very close to MIR, so that would be a great idea. However if we specificaly plan the BBQ we may get a better turnout, no? I'm always at MIR and the biggest MOAMA turnout I've seen is maybe seven or eight people?

I mean the offer extends to those who are at MIR for any reasion you are welcome to crash at my house (obviously with prior notice!) but do you agree we should plan this as two seperate events? I'll look into the MIR events to save people from driving down here twice. What events were you thinking? I guess once I get some decent input I'll see if you or doug can't set up a poll to go to step two? Thanks for the input. I think everyone can agree it's not a BBQ without you Steve so I'll try to plan to make it best for everyone. I'm hoping to get a lot of input from a lot of people so we can get plans set in stone sooner rather than later. You know, so we have enough time for the 'fakers' to back out?!? I'll bring the lighter fluid this time haha.

The largest MISUOAMA turnout we've had is about 24+ (look at the top banner photo)

My apologies - I meant at MIR. The Great Falls location was my idea! That was good though I still show friends the videos the dude in the tree took.

Also not sure how the moderator stuff goes but would there be a possibility of making this (at least temporarily) a sticky so it catches everyone's attention?

Thread stuck!

I'd also create a thread on C3G and link directly to this one, start a list, etc. You know the drill.

He lives close to MIR, spend day at the track then head to his place and have a BBQ/firepit!

No I have not been to a meet as of yet, but hopefully that will change soon. I don't believe the bbq is being hosted at your property, the big thing is it is better to ask a question then to assume. I see he mentioned having ATV's himself....

I like the idea of doing an MIR event in conjunction with a BBQ meet at Dan's place afterward. I think it would be an enjoyable time that will extend beyond a the length of a normal meet.

The only con I can see to doing a MIR/BBQ meet - is time constraints. This means the show for the better portion of the day (9-5) and then Dan's place from 5 until ?. Very do-able, but pretty lengthy for those driving a distance unless they plan to stay the evening at his place or hotel.

Well, lets see here. Complete Stranger wanting to ride or let his kid ride dirt bikes on the HOSTS property out of good faith? I wasn't trying to speak for Dan but just hinting at the fact that someone who has shown VERY LITTLE interest in this site, events or anything pertaining to us is asking of something soo bold on his FIRST meet ( if you even come). I was just pointing out the type of liability this could carry..

But as a pro - this also allows for those driving a fair distance the opportunity to attend a pretty decent show/drags AND attend a meet all in one shot. I guess you could refer to this as a 2 for 1 special.

It is a double-edged sword. I would be staying overnight, so I am thinking of this as a two-for-one special. Those with a lengthy drive doing it in one day, eh, not so much.

You must be proud to have a sidekick.. "nor does he post much" Would you prefer I join the ranks of a post whore or only post with content.. yea that would be based on opinion..

Anyways Im on this forum now and if I do here what I've done on my own forums (Galant tuners and other G sites) My meets have seen more then 24, once the date is nailed down the word will be spread to those sites as well..

Our meets don't work like this. We're not looking for OTHER sites to congregate to our meets, we're looking for people HERE to go. If they want to be members HERE they are welcome to come but we're not looking for a bunch of leaching assholes that poison the well for the people who actually give a shit about MITSUOAMA.com. We are not looking for the QUANTITY of guests but the QUALITY. Not looking for Ricers or Thugs or anyone who may cause trouble. Now, of course if a G2G was at MIR we couldnt really limit who shows but a private event at someones home, that's something different.

BTW, what CONTENT have you provided with your 40+ posts?

Just out of curiosity, would you all prefer this meet to be a 21+ meet, being that there will be a little alcohol?

I wouldn't think so right off the bat, there would be no answers to "hey, Mr" from me though.

I'm not 21, and if I went, I sure as hell wouldn't plan on drinking on someone elses property therefore putting them in a bad position. And I also wouldn't ask anyone to stick their neck out for me over a stupid beer. Although, I can't vouch for others under 21 who may not feel as I do.

That sounds cool to me. After a date has been narrowed down. Just let us know what is needed to be supplied so we can all pitch in as usual.

You raise a good point. If I was not 21 years of age, I would still come to the meet, although I would respect Dan enough to not drink and lay that liability on him. Then again, I cannot speak for Dan.

I wouldn't plan on drinking at all. I would most likely be driving to and from in one day. I just figured if there are drinks, he may not want anyone under 21.
