Thumbs up 2010 Ocean City Car Show June 5-6, 2010

So Steve gave me the dates for the 2010 Ocean City, MD Car show. It's going to be held June 5-6th at the convnention center in Ocean City, MD. 2010 Ocean City Car Show

I just remembered this was happening (Thanks steve). I've been for the past four years but I've never entered. I'd like to go just to be in OC. It's incredible amounts of fun no matter where you're coming from. I'm going to get a room and I urge everyone who is viewing to reply. For those of you who don't know - this is one of the best times you'll ever have. It's firemans' week as well ( I believe). I don't need to get to graphic but it'll be awesome.

Let me know who is interested and I'll look through some hotels. The princess royalle on 94th St is the best place ever (They have temperpedic matresses in every room) but all options are open. I'll be happy to make all necessary calls and figure everything out if we can get enough interest.

and maybe some if you give me enough notice lol.

(This is my territory! I guarantee you the best time ever!) I'm actually really excited for this one!

I will certainly be there and only staying on Saturday night. All the flyers and advertisements they're using for 2010 are my shots from 2009. Brian from Spark Productions gave me a call and personally asked me to come back and document the entire event, so I will be there since this is a paid gig.

Get room rates and count me in. 94th street is pretty far up though - but the mattress sounds like a perk.

Yeah it is a bit of a ride, although what is the convention center, 56th? I've drunk walked from 2nd before, no worries. I think its maybe 15 min in traffic. If we get enough interest I'll look into group rates or possibly getting one of their condos.

You single guys know girls love a condo! haha

I will be definitely going. This is the one event I truly look forward to each year, and wouldn't miss it for anything! I might stay the night at the Princess Royale, those beds are really nice, but no need to accommodate for me, I might bring a friend or two. The Grand Hotel is a lot closer to the convention center, if convenience is a priority to anyone.

I agree - I like the Grand (28th street I believe?). However this is one of those events we're going to have to book almost immediately as the week before is Senior week and the same week is Firemans' week. If we're going to get some rooms we ought to do it immediately.

I'd say we shoudl stay at one of the cheap hotels but they usually have police outside b/c of all fo the underage kids there. I'm old enough but it just makes for a hassle. (hahah i remember when i was 19 I was trying to walk up the stairs of this cheap hotel on 12th street and i busted my ass with a 12 pack and a beer busted on the cop. [I had to be at least a .25 minumum]it was funny as shit!)

Hopefully we can get enough people for group rates?

Stay in a nice hotel that is clean and not a party pad. I'm not going to be in a drunk festival with shitheads hanging off balconies. I'll glady GO to something and have a good time with everyone, but I wanted to be able to leave and go back to a quiet room away from whatever mess is going on and sleep with it quiet.

Check out this place http://www.princessbayside.com/index.php It was decent and the rates were good. It's pretty close to secrets if thats your type of thing.

I've stayed there on plenty of occassions - it's 6 blocks from the Convention Center on 48th Street I believe.

yea pretty much. However I've never been there as an 'adult'. All hotel parties and what not.

The Princess Royale would be that place. It was really nice to have quiet. I had a few parties when i went for senior week, but we were probably the loudest people in the hotel.

I believe the bayside and the royale are owned by the same people. The royale is oceanfront and newer (I think the bayside was built first) but you definitely won't regret it. they have tempurpedic matresses in each room. They also all have a kitchen and a living room with a pull out sofa. I think if there are enough people we could split a penthouse which I think has three bedrooms (Itll be like 800 for the weekend but split between seven people...)

Okay, so I looked it up. a three bedroom penthouse condo is 1425 for two nights (Fri through sun) for eight people. Thats a bit over 200 a person. I think it'd still bee cheaper than everyone getting their own room @ 100 a night - you'd be staying in a dump.

IDK let me know your thoughts and I'll make some calls to see if we can't get a decent rate.

So, I found out that the SCC Eclipse raffle winner will be at the OC Car Show on the main floor with his vendor display for newly creating JMAutoRacing. So, anyone interested to see whatever changes he made to the car and meet the new owner - can do so at the OC Show.

I know when I go there, I'm taking the remote to the Alpine headunit that I found in a drawer in my garage that I forget to leave in the car to give to him. Maybe I should turn it off when I casually walk by and watch him scratch his head wondering why it keeps turning off. LOL.

I'm waiting for a pair of turning signals from JMAutoRacing. Never responded to my PM in request for a tracking number.

Keep in mind it's a one man operation - you would probably be best sending an email. PM's aren't your typical way of contacting a business.

Besides, I'm willing to bet your turn signals will be on your doorstep before you even get tracking information. 9 times out of 10, tracking information is never updated in the system and is pretty worthless. I have COUNTLESS times that UPS, FEDEX, and USPS will say the number was never scanned or just received and the damn thing is already here or somewhere else.

Don't worry - it's a cheap pair of plastic turn signals, not exactly a high dollar item. They'll show up.

Otherwise, go the OC Car Show event and bitch him out in person.

I've personally have never had any issues with the shipping carrier not updating the tracking information, but I'm not to worried about it. He has had many successful transactions. I'll start sending e-mails after at least a good two weeks if I'm concerned; otherwise, I'm sure it's in transit.

You have obviously never shipped or received an item from USPS w/tracking then.....

Only once, and that was from Steve for the pedals. I never bothered to find any tracking information though.

USPS fucking sucks when it comes to tracking info. UPS is the best IMO, followed by a distant Fed Ex.

I am interested in attending this show, but I will not be 100% certain until later on this Spring. With the Carlisle show, the annual meet, and vacation in May, it will all depend upon if I feel like traveling again.

ok - I just booked at the Best Western (I've stayed there before, actually a decent place given what options are in OC) for Friday and Saturday night. They require 2 nights. Anyhow, I used a discounted AAA/Military rate.

So, I may be willing to split the room costs if someone was to share - I booked the 2-Queen bed room just in case someone is interested. If you're interested, PM me.

I am still unsure if I will be able to attend or not. I've never gone to this show, but would definitely like to. This is back on my radar, so I will see what I can do.

If you've never gone - you should atleast go. I'd suggest enjoying the show all day on Saturday, doing whatever on Saturday night, and enjoying the beach on Sunday and then head home.

I'm probably going up early Friday to be on the beach, lay low Friday night - and then shoot the show all weekend.

After looking at my calendar so far, I doubt I will be able to make it to this show after all. With the Carlisle show being May 8-9, vacation being the weekend before this show, and all of the other miscellaneous things going on with work, it is just not going to make sense for me to travel again. I hope you all have a great time at the show, and please post a lot of pictures.

Thanks for the reminder, Doug. I would like to have the weekend after vacation to relax at home before another weekend of traveling.

Chris - are you going? You should, you've never been before.

Anyone else going? I arrive Friday and leave on Sunday.

I would love to go this year, but I am not going to be able to make it. Between the insanity at work and traveling four out of the next five weekends, this would be the only weekend to catch my breath. This weekend, Daphine and I are going to Canada, next weekend we are going on vacation in Florida, the weekend of this show, I have nothing planned, the BBQ meet is the weekend after that, and then I have a two-day poker run starting on June 19.

I'd love to but I'll be spending this weekend finalizing plans for the BBQ.
